These Are the First Signs of Depression That Everyone Ignores

Here are the most common depression symptoms

Sadness, moodiness (almost every day, throughout the whole day), laziness and bad mood.
Anxiety, nervousness. This disorder involves excessive, unrealistic worry and tension, even if there is little or nothing to provoke the anxiety. It also includes fear of the future, alienation and absence.
Decreased energy and variation in energy levels. These people usually have more energy in the evening.
Poor concentration and memory, thinking over, confusion,
Insomnia (sleeping disorders such as difficulty falling asleep, waking up in the early morning,, at least 2 hours before the usual time, after which the person can no longer fall asleep, or waking up many times during the night).
People who experience sleep disorder usually try to sleep during the day. They don’t feel well in the mornings and don`t want to get out of bed.

 

Bad thoughts. These people have exaggerated sense of guilt and are preoccupied with past or current problems. They have obsessive thoughts, feeling of hatred and blame themselves for neglecting others and for all the bad things that have happened to them.

The feeling of loss and depression is accompanied with suicidal ideas, feelings of worthlessness and deep hopelessness.

 

In case of normal grieving after the death of a close person, it takes about a year for someone to get back in normal psycho-physical condition. But, if the mourning extends and complicates in any way, it may indicate a depression.

 

Indifference, loss of interest. People who suffer from depression have difficulties in enjoying any daily activities. They`re unable to laugh and have reduction of sex drive.
Feeling of hopelessness and helplessness. Symptoms like frequent and violent mood swings, lack of energy, looking in one spot, or feeling of painful loneliness, are the clear signs of depression.
Poor appetite or excessive eating.
Constant feeling of fatigue and rapid muscle fatigue, feeling of disability for work or activity and weakness.
Lethargy, hypersensitivity, crying, singing, pessimism about future and constant concern about unimportant things.
Thinking about how worthless life is, about death and suicide. About 60% of people who suffer from depression have this kind of thoughts.
Excessive sleep is another symptom (sleep per 12 or more hours each day).

If the symptoms last more than two weeks, they indicate depression.

Usually, people deny the psychological symptoms and complain only to physical symptoms which most frequently affect their gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal or their central nervous system. Part of these symptoms are increased heart rate, frequent headaches, stomach pain and cramps, dry mouth, nausea, diarrhea, feeling of pressure or heaviness in chest, shaking and numbness in arms and legs.

The first symptoms that indicate depression:

The person is usually silent, dejected, moves slowly, responds questions after a short break, the person is mostly quiet, monotonous, and often give one-word answers.
The person often neglects personal hygiene and appearance.
The individual has frequently a stooped posture, somber mood, and sad facial expression.

Adolescents

There are many other symptoms that could indicate depression such as mood swings, irritability, problems in school, antisocial behavior, promiscuity, truancy, poor hygiene and abuse of psychoactive substances.
