The oldest living woman in Scotland -- 109 -- says the secret to her longevity is this: Eat your porridge and avoid men. Centenarian Jessie Gallan, who never married, was born in a tiny two-room farm cottage where she slept "top-to-tail" with her five sisters and a brother on a straw mattress, reported The Daily Mail.
Gallan told the newspaper that her "secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They're just more trouble than they're worth." She noted that she also "made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married."Lire la suite : 109-Year-Old Woman Says Secret To Long Life Is Avoiding Men
Recycling becomes fun when there are rewards involved. It's just unfortunate that that's what it takes to get people to care.
The city of Beijing has come up with an ingenious idea to encourage people to recycle more. It has installed 34 “reverse” vending machines in subway stations throughout the city. When a passerby inserts an empty plastic bottle, the machine’s sensor scans it to assess the value of the plastic – anywhere from 5 to 15 cents – and spits out a public transportation credit or extra mobile phone minutes. The reward is commensurate with the quality and number of bottles being fed into the machine, although there is also the option for people such as tourists, who don’t need the rewards, to insert bottles anyways.Lire la suite : Pay for your subway ride in Beijing by recycling a plastic bottle
Bolivian President Evo Morales has begun a campaign to eliminate the indigenous Bolivian tradition of using urine to cure coughs and other mild diseases, admitting in a public statement that he had often used urine to cure himself in his youth at the behest of a local doctor.
"I was raised in the fields, and I cured myself with urine," Morales stated at a public event to provide the town of Cochabamba with more modern medical equipment. "I grew up in the fields consuming lampaya and wira-wira to cure cough and, I lament to say, urine. When some doctor told me 'drink urine, it is good,' I would cure myself with urine, drinking urine," he explained.
The concept of reflexology can be traced back to ancient Egyptian and Chinese civilizations. It was popularized in the United States in the early 1900s when various doctors and physiotherapists began to study the extent of nerve cells in the hands and feet. Reflexology is a safe and completely natural way for you to enhance the quality of your life. It uses massage therapy techniques to stimulate nerves, mostly in the palm of your hand and bottom of your foot. Each of these nerves branches off to different organs and glands in your body.Lire la suite : How to Do Reflexology At Home? Amazing
